Kaihalulu Red Sand Beach, Maui - Hawaii
Blog Post - September 13, 2021
Kaihalulu Red Sand Beach is a must visit on the east side of Maui!
We took the road to Hana and this beach is located just south of Hana.
When you get there, you'll find free street side parking. You'll go through the yellow gate, cross a small field, and follow the narrow trail to the beach.
This trail is about 1/4 of a mile and it is a dirt trail so you'll want to wear hiking shoes or water shoes to get there.
There are some steep dropoffs on the trail, so if you're afraid of heights this might not be the hike for you.
As you get towards the end of the trail, there is a great overlook point that you can see the rock barrier and the red sand beach.
You'll follow the trail all the way down and then you can layout, go swimming, and even jump off of the rocks.
This beach is beautiful and we loved our time there.
This is what the parking area looks like:
You'll see a yellow gate with a trail by it. Take that across the grass field to the trail.
Follow this trail to the beach.
You will almost be there when you see these views.
You can see that the trail down is narrow and has a big dropoff. Make sure you take your time going down.
These are the views of the beach.
The red sand is actually small red and black rocks.
Overall, this was an amazing beach and we loved it. We would highly recommend visiting Kaihalulu Red Sand Beach on your next trip to Maui!
