Ironwoods Beach (Oneloa Beach), Maui, Hawaii
Blog Post - February 6, 2026
Ironwoods Beach is also known as Oneloa Beach. This beach backs up to the Ironwoods Golf Course and has a trail that goes to the Kapalua Tide Pools too.
This beach is located on the northwest side of Maui.
The parking lot is small with only 19 spaces.
This is a scan to pay parking lot. You pay and it covers your parking at 8 Kapalua Locations:
- Nakalele Blowhole
- Mokuleia Bay
- DT Fleming Beach
- Dragons Teeth Trail
- Pineapple Chapel
- Ironwoods
- Merriman's (valid until 3pm).
- Kapalua Bay.
You can actually save money by booking the day before at https://parklinq.com.
We had paid for parking at DT Fleming Beach Park earlier in the day so we didn't have to pay again. When we were there it showed the price as $29 for the day, but if you book the day before it would only be $19.
From the parking lot we walked across the street to the sidewalk entrance that goes down to the beach. At the entrance there is a sign that shows that this is part of the Kapalua Coastal Trail.
As we walked down the sidewalk, we saw that there is a free shower and rinse-off area.
As we got to the end of the trail there are two choices. You can go down the steps to the beach or you can turn left and follow the boardwalk to the far entrance to the beach or follow it to the cliffs and tide pools.
We went down to the beach first. You can see from the aerial views that this could have great snorkeling on a calm day. We didn't go snorkeling here because the waves were too big and was making the visibility in the water poor.
We explored the beach, went swimming, laid out and had a great time here. This is what the beach looks like.
After hanging out on the beach, we took the boardwalk until the end where it turns into a dirt path to go explore the cliffs and tide pools. This is what it looked like.
Overall, we had a great time at Ironwoods beach and we want to come back in the summer months when the water is calm to go snorkeling here.
