Smathers Beach in Key West, Florida

We arrived in Key West, Florida and we stayed right next to Smathers Beach.

Smathers Beach is located right next to the Key West Airport on South Roosevelt Blvd on the East side of Key West.

This beautiful beach has palm trees and soft sand. It is a public beach and there are no fees to pay to go to the beach.

They have tractors that rake the beach each day so the sand always looks great. 

We visited right after a tropical storm so there was still some seaweed on the beach, but they did a great job at cleaning up most of it.

We really enjoyed our time at Smathers Beach. If you're going to visit Key West, we highly recommend it.

We saw pictures of this beach before our trip to Key West so we booked a VRBO rental in a condo complex adjacent to the beach. We rented Unit C232 in the 1800 Atlantic Condos which was right next to the south side of Smathers Beach. Here is a video tour of Unit C232:

Smathers Beach is a public beach so there is NO entrance fee. 

They do have a shop called Sunset Watersports where you can rent a paddle board, Kayak or hobie cat. 

We rented our Condo right next to Smathers Beach through VRBO. We stayed for 3 nights and paid $1,583.38 for Unit C232 at 1800 Atlantic Condos.

These are the checklist items I recommend:

• Bring your own towel and umbrella for shade.
• Reef safe sunscreen
• Go Pro Hero 8 Black video camera
• Go Pro 3-Way Grip to hold the camera out in front of you.
