Honokeana Cove, Maui

Honokeana Cove is a great snorkeling spot located on the northwest coast of Maui, Hawaii. 

As we were driving along Lower Honopiilani Road, we saw that there is a beach access trail. We didn't see any street side parking right by the entrance so we drove down closer to Napili Bay Beach and walked from there.

Here's an aerial view of where the trail starts and where it ends up at the cove to get in the water. This is a public trail that goes between some private property so make sure you stay on the trail.

The trail goes to a rocky cove that blocks the waves and is a great place to get in and out of the water.

You can also go to Honokeana Cove from Napili Bay Beach. From Napili Bay Beach you turn left or go south along the rocky shore and around to Honokeana Cove.

As you follow the coastline it comes to a private entrance at Napili Point Resort. The gate says no trespassing and to go along the rocks to access Honokeana Cove. If you're staying at the Napili Point Resort you can follow the sidewalk to Honokeana Cove.

I would recommend wearing water shoes or booties that fit in your fins. This will make it so much easier to walk on the rocks and getting in and out of the water. We climbed down into this small cove and got into the water. The water was about up to my chest so it was easy to get in.

As we started to snorkel out the water got deeper and deeper as we explored the bay. We saw lots of sea turtles and all sorts of fish.

Overall, we had a great time snorkeling at Honokeana Cove. We would definitely come back and snorkel here again.

• Bring a hat to keep the sun off of your face.
• Bring sunscreen
• Bring a beach towel
• Bring water shoes that fit in your fins.
• Bring your own snorkeling gear
