Tar Bay Beach is located north of George Town and is a little off the beaten path, but worth visiting.

This beautiful beach has crystal clear water and soft sand.

You'll take a dirt road to get there, but you'll end up at an amazing beach!

This is a map and some views of the entrance and dirt road:

Once you turn in, you'll take the 2nd left, which takes you down a dirt road to the beach.

The dirt road will curve to the right, which leads you to the parking area for Tar Bay Beach.

After parking, we explored the beach and went swimming and snorkeling.

We didn't see many fish, but it's still a great place to swim.

Overall, we loved this beach. We were the only ones there when we went. We would highly recommend visiting Tar Bay Beach on your next trip to Great Exuma.

CHECKLIST:

These are the checklist items I recommend:

  • Bring reef-safe sunscreen.
  • Bring your own snorkeling gear.
  • Bring your own snacks and water.
  • If it's rained, drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle as the road is dirt and will get lots of water.
