Dean's Blue Hole, Long Island, Bahamas
Blog Post - November 8, 2025
Dean's Blue Hole was one of our favorite places to visit on Long Island in the Bahamas.
It's located down on the south end of Long Island on the east side.
Dean's Blue Hole is the 2nd deepest saltwater blue hole in the world. It is 662 feet deep or 202 meters deep.
From the Queen's Highway we turned off into the Turtle Cove Subdivision. This is a dirt road that goes through the Turtle Cove Subdivision.
When we got to the hill, the road turns from dirt to paved. Then when we got over the hill the road turned from paved back to dirt.
At the end of the dirt road, we made a right and followed that to Dean's Blue Hole. When you are getting close you'll see the sign pointing the way to Dean's Blue Hole.
We went about a week after Hurricane Melissa came through and the dirt roads still had a lot of standing water. We would recommend driving a 4-wheel drive vehicle. We drove a Jeep and never had to put it in 4-wheel drive, but it was nice to have the high clearance for the water.
We got to the end of the dirt road and parked in the large dirt parking lot. It was free to park here. From the parking lot we walked out to the beach. There is a short trail that takes you there.
We walked the beach first. The sand was really soft and we couldn't get over how clear the water was.
After exploring the beach, we got into the water with our masks, snorkels, and fins. We snorkeled over to the free diving platform in the middle first. As we snorkeled out we could see the sand dropping off as a steep slope down to the hole.
When we got to the free diving platform, we saw that there is a rope that goes down. This is what it looks like looking down and going towards the rope.
After exploring here, we kept on snorkeling over to the far side of the blue hole. That's where we saw most of the fish.
We had such a fun time snorkeling here. After snorkeling, we got out and laid out on the beach. The views here are amazing!
Overall, we had a great time swimming, snorkeling, and exploring Dean's Blue Hole. We would highly recommend coming here on your next trip to Long Island in the Bahamas.
