Fords Beach, Long Island, Bahamas
Blog Post - November 8, 2025
Fords Beach has beautiful turquoise water, a boat ramp, public bathrooms, and a really long stretch of beach that is great for long walks.
It’s located on the southwest side of Long Island in the Bahamas.
On Google Maps, this beach shows as Mortimors Beautiful Public Beach, but it is located on Ford's Road and at the beach it says Fords Beach.
If you're using Google Maps to get to this beach, you'll want to put in Mortimors Beautiful Public Beach.
From the Queen's Highway we turned off onto Ford's Road and followed the dirt road to the beach.
When you are getting close, you'll go over two small concrete bridges.
We were there about a week and a half after Hurricane Mellisa came through and they had a tractor there that was moving sand out of the way for the boat ramp.
They also had a new building with public bathrooms, but when we tried to use them we found the doors were locked. We're not sure when they are open.
As we walked out to the beach we found an old building with a painting of "Welcome to Fords Beach".
Fords Beach is really long and great for long walks. The water is crystal clear and great for swimming. This is what Fords Beach looks like.
Overall, we had a great time at Fords Beach and would definitely go back.

These are the checklist items I recommend:
- Bring your own food and water.
- Bring a hat.
- Bring sunglasses.
- Bring reef safe sunscreen.
- The road to get there is a dirt road so a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended.
- Bring your own snorkeling gear.
