Lochabar Beach, Long Island, Bahamas
Blog Post - November 13, 2025
Lochabar Beach is a beautiful beach with a large blue hole, sandbars, and great snorkeling.
It's located on the southeast side of Long Island in the Bahamas.
From the Queen's Highway we took a paved road all the way to the beach.
We parked in the culdesac and took the sidewalk to the beach.
At the entrance of the sidewalk to the beach, there were three signs. One sign warning that there are no lifeguards on duty. Another that there are sharks and sting rays in the water. The last sign let us know that the cabana is only for Harbor Breeze Villas and Resort guests.
We walked the sidewalk and went past the cabana to the beach. We decided to go to the right or south to explore the blue hole. We wanted to do some snorkeling here.
We started snorkeling where the blue hole starts. It was like getting into the shallow end of a pool and swimming towards the deep end. We saw a barracuda and some fish.
After snorkeling, we got out and walked down the beach to go snorkeling in the deeper section of the blue hole.
We had a great time snorkeling here. After snorkeling, we got out and enjoyed this beautiful beach.
Next time, we want to bring a kayak or paddle boards to go explore the sandbar. This is what the sandbar area looks like beyond the blue hole.
Overall, we had a great time snorkeling and hanging out at Lochabar Beach. The day that we went was overcast and windy so we definitely want to go back on a calm sunny day. This beach was beautiful.
