Sunrise Bay Beach, Long Island, Bahamas
Blog Post - November 10, 2025
Sunrise Bay Beach was one of our favorite beaches for snorkeling on Long Island.
It's located on the southeast side of Long Island in the Bahamas.
When you turn off of the Queen's Highway, you'll take that road all the way to the beach. This is a really bumpy road that is partially paved.
We drove a Jeep and never needed 4-wheel drive, but the ruts in the road when you get close to the beach entrance were deep while we were there. It's also on a steep incline so we parked a little ways up to avoid them.
The trail down to the beach looks more like a drainage ditch, but it takes you right to the beach.
As we walked out onto the beach we were greated with crystal clear water and soft sand.
There was also a large rock with a split through the middle that you could walk through.
We then walked down to the southern end of the beach to go snorkeling. There is a large coral reef there. It's easy to get into the water from the beach and snorkel out.
After snorkeling, we got out and relaxed on this beautiful beach.
Overall, we had a great time at Sunrise Bay Beach. The snorkeling here was so fun and we definitely want to come back again.

CHECKLIST:
These are the checklist items I recommend:
- Bring your own food and water.
- Bring a hat.
- Bring sunglasses.
- Bring reef safe sunscreen.
- A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. The road is really bumpy and has some deep ruts near the entrance. You could also drive a regular car and park and walk the last part so you don't get stuck.
- Bring your own snorkeling gear.
