Galloway Beach, Long Island, Bahamas
Blog Post - November 13, 2025
Galloway Beach is a remote beach on the southwest side of Long Island in the Bahamas.
When we first turned off the Queen's Highway the road was paved. That didn't last very long and the road turned into a dirt road.
The day that we went, there was a lot of standing water on the road from the rain.
We highly recommend driving a 4-wheel drive vehicle when going to Galloway Landing.
We crossed over two wood bridges and then came to an intersection. If you go straight, that takes you to Galloway Landing. We turned left to go to Galloway Beach.
After we turned left at the intersection, we followed the dirt road to Galloway Beach.
As we got to the end of the road, we went straight past a bridge and parked at the end of the road at Galloway Beach.
After parking, we got out and started exploring. The trees right by the entrance of the ocean and the river have rope swings on them. We played on these, went snorkeling in the channel, and explored the beach. This is what it looked like.
Overall, we had a great time at Galloway Beach. We even went here twice on our trip to Long Island. We had the place all to ourselves both times. We love this off the beaten path gem of a beach.

These are the checklist items I recommend:

- Bring sunglasses.
- Bring reef safe sunscreen.
- A Jeep, truck, or SUV is recommended for this dirt road. We didn't use our 4-wheel drive, but there was a lot of standing water on the day that we went.
